Stuff the Bus
Communities In Schools of Seattle is gearing up for our 5th annual Stuff the Bus Campaign! Our official kick off date will be June 9th when we announce our Stuff the Bus Image  Contest Winner.
What is Stuff the Bus?
Stuff the Bus is a school supply campaign that gives schools supplies directly to schools serving the lowest income students in Seattle. In a district of over 45,000 students, about 40% live in poverty. Last year, CISS was able to provide backpacks, notebooks, pencils, calculators, etc to 6,517 students at 28 schools!
Why Stuff the Bus?
Families spend $60 – 100 per child to get them ready for the first day of school. Given the current economic conditions, this can be a hardship especially if there is more than one school-aged child in the family. On average an elementary school teacher spends $1,000 each year out of pocket to provide supplies for her students. Stuff the Bus supports both families and teachers.
Goal for 2010
Provide school supplies to more than 7,000 students
How can you help?
Become a Community Partner and hold a school supply drive at your businness, organization, sports club, church, etc. OR become a Volunteer.

July 31st- Torchlight Parade
August 7th- Community Collection @ Greenlake PCC Natural Market 10am-4pm
August 11th- Community Collection @ SODO Lobby Starbucks 9am-Noon
August 21st- Seahawks Pre-game Collection @ all gates
August 24th- Community Partner School Supply Pick-up
August 27th & 28th- Sorting School Supplies at Transgroup Warehouse
September TBD School supplies are distributed to schools
